Secrets.

The one where we talk about the dark psychological thriller you need to be watching on #Hulu right now.

Secrets. Everyone has them. Some are bigger and darker and scarier than others. What happens when one of them gets dug up — literally? That's what Nathan Redman is about to find out in The Sister. You see, Nathan has done something. Something bad. Something that only one other person in the world knows about. And that person has just shown up on Nathan's doorstep [ominous music plays].

Years ago, back in 2009, Nathan attended a New Year's Eve party being thrown by his boss. He's a sound engineer for a talk radio program and one of the most popular guests is Bob Morrow, a ghost expert. A suave, dashing, handsome, but creepy as hell ghost expert. Bob is also a guest at the party. So is Elise, a pretty girl, who catches Nathan's eye. He thinks for a minute that he might have a shot with her, but she's with another guy. SAD. DISAPPOINTING. Oh well. You win some, you lose some. Sometime after midnight, Nathan leaves the party and starts to walk home by himself. On a dark dirt road. Because, of course that's where he would be walking, right? He hears footsteps behind him and turns around to find ... yes, you guessed it ... the pretty girl from the party. They walk, they talk, they shoot chemistry vibes at one another, and everything is going okay until Bob shows up in his fancy sports car. He invites them to get a drink with him at the local pub. They agree and hop in the back. But before they've traveled too very far, Bob suggests they make a quick pitstop on a side dirt road to do some drugs. And that's when things get bad. And a body gets buried. Fast forward to the current day. Nathan is at home on a rainy night, reading a book and sipping a glass of wine as he waits for his wife to get home from work. Suddenly, the doorbell rings. He reluctantly opens the door ... and there's Bob. Uh ohz. This cannot be good. Bob invites himself in and begins to explain that there's a new housing development being constructed ... right in the area where a body is buried. The body they buried. They have to dig it up. Nathan is horrified, and rightly so. He's worked hard to put all of this behind him. So hard, as a matter of fact, that we are shocked to find out that his wife, Holly, is actually the sister of missing girl Elise. What the what??? The sister of the woman whose death he may or may not have been responsible for??? What kind of messed up, horrifying stuff is that??? What plays out over the course of the next episodes is part thriller, part ghost story, filled with lots of bad decision-making. Twists, turns, red herrings — they're all here and they all make for some darn good storytelling. Is it worth checking out? Absolutely. Add it to your queue and start streaming tonight! That's all I've got for now. Cheers, and peace out until next time!
